Kilmer, Wagner & Wise 60 Years in Business!

Kilmer, Wagner & Wise Paper Company of Orange County California is celebrating their 60th year of business. Incorporated October 24, 1955, Kenny Kilmer, John Wagner and Frederick Wise Jr. were poised to serve the variety of industries that were sprouting up all over Southern California in those post WWII years. Their core business was supplying independent drug stores with school supplies, and products related to the butcher, restaurant and manufacturing industries. In 1962 the company had outgrown its first location in Stanton and moved into a new 27,000 square foot building that they had constructed in neighboring Garden Grove. At this time the concept of a “business park” was quite new and being the first building on Monarch Street, KWW was surrounded by strawberry fields. Fast forwarding to 1982, Fred’s son, Greg, came to work for the company which was by now solely owned and operated by the Wise family. As independent drug stores and butcher shops were being scooped up by large chain stores, the company focused their sites on the industrial packaging market and continues to do so today. Foresight, flexibility and vision have allowed Kilmer, Wagner & Wise Paper Company to grow and thrive in the aggressive and dynamic business culture of Southern California. Fred Wise passed away at the age of 88 in 2011 but Greg continues to carry forward his philosophy of empowering and valuing employees, fiscal wellbeing and staying ahead of the curve when it comes to new technologies and products. His son Myles has recently come on board as a sales rep carrying the family tradition into the fourth generation. KWW has been a member of the United Group since August, 1990 and continues to support TUG’s Preferred Suppliers. In partnering with TUG KWW’s buying team of Janine Martinez and Sal Hernandez have accrued many awards and great rebate checks over the years. Their motto, “Large Enough to Serve You; Small Enough to Know You”, still rings true today. They may not be the largest packaging concern in Southern California but they are its oldest family owned company, treasuring time honored values of honesty, service and know-how while staying up with the times and outperforming expectations.
